IDEAS offers an interdisciplinary, credit-bearing curriculum grounded in Africa-centered intellectual traditions and place-based learning. Courses are designed to engage students across disciplines while centering African histories, languages, cultural practices, and contemporary realities as sites of theory, knowledge production, and global thought.The curriculum challenges extractive and Eurocentric models of international education by foregrounding African epistemologies, community knowledge, and ethical inquiry. Coursework integrates classroom instruction with field-based learning, language immersion, and applied projects to ensure intellectual depth and contextual relevance.

Interdisciplinary Approach

IDEAS courses draw from the humanities, social sciences, arts, and critical technologies. Students are encouraged to make connections across disciplines, methodologies, and forms of knowledge, fostering analytical flexibility and intellectual rigor.

Credit-Bearing Coursework

All courses are credit-bearing and structured to meet international academic standards. IDEAS works with partner institutions to ensure that coursework aligns with university credit systems and learning outcomes. Faculty oversight, assessment standards, and academic accountability are integral to program design.

Africa-Centered Pedagogy

IDEAS centers Africa not as an object of study, but as a generator of theory, practice, and intellectual innovation. Courses emphasize:
