IDEAS faculty and staff bring together scholars, cultural practitioners, and academic administrators committed to rigorous, ethical, and decolonial education across Global Africa. Our programs are guided by individuals whose work is grounded in African intellectual traditions, community-based knowledge, and critical global engagement.
Faculty
IDEAS courses are taught by African-based university faculty, visiting scholars, artists, writers, and cultural practitioners whose teaching and research engage lived realities on the continent. Faculty members draw from interdisciplinary fields—including the humanities, social sciences, arts, and critical technologies—to challenge dominant epistemologies and center Africa as a site of knowledge production.
Instruction emphasizes:
Africa-centered and decolonial pedagogies
Language as epistemology, not merely skill acquisition
Community-engaged and place-based learning
Ethical research practices and reciprocity
Faculty are selected for their scholarly excellence, regional expertise, and commitment to teaching that bridges theory, practice, and community knowledge.
Staff
IDEAS staff provide academic coordination, student support, program administration, and community partnership management across all sites. Working closely with faculty and local institutions, staff ensure that programs are academically sound, culturally grounded, and logistically responsive.

IDEAS programs are supported by an advisory structure composed of Africa- and diaspora-based scholars and professionals. This leadership ensures academic rigor, institutional integrity, and alignment with decolonial standards across curricula, partnerships, and research activities.
Through collaborative governance and shared intellectual responsibility, IDEAS maintains programs that are both locally grounded and globally engaged.
