Coursework emphasizes critical analysis of Francophone Africa while integrating language immersion and cultural context.

Summer language programs prioritize immersive instruction through classroom learning, daily practice, and community engagement.
Young Scholars Program
The IDEAS Young Scholars Program offers an intensive summer experience in Kampala, Uganda, introducing students to Africa-centered research and decolonial methodologies. Taught in English with faculty mentorship and field-based learning, the program guides students in developing a rigorous research proposal on an issue of contemporary significance.
